Booking Policies

  • We believe the children are our future, but you still have to be 21 years old and present to book a room
  • All requests to reserve a room must include the first and last name of the adult reserving the room and a valid credit card for a guarantee of arrival
  • Our room rates are always awesome, but they are subject to change
  • All rooms are subject to a 12.5% tax collected by Sierra County, as well as a $2 gratuity donated (per booking) to our local Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship
  • Group trips are fun! When booking, keep maximum occupancy rules in mind- two people max for rooms with a single bed (Queen or King) and four people max for rooms with multiple beds. Bringing a child? Please let us know so we can set you in a room that is spacious enough for the whole family.
  • Got a pooch? We’ve got packages and accommodations available upon request, and restrictions apply. We love when guests bring companions, but we also love to prepare for our furry friends. Please let us know if you have any animals coming along with you.
  • Unannounced pets or any damages that occurred during your stay are subject to a fine.
  • $90 Cleaning fee for Queen Lofts
  • $100 Cleaning fee for King Loft
  • $175 Cleaning fee for Downie Manor
  • $150 Dirty Dishes Fee (only on rooms with dirty dishes)


CancelLation Policies

Life happens. We get that.


  • If the guest cancels more than 30 days in advance, the total amount of the reservation will be refunded. 
  • Reservations are fully refundable if cancellation is made within 24 hours of booking.
  • Any cancellations made after 24 hours of booking and within 8 days of arrival have a non-refundable deposit but are eligible for rescheduling for a $100 fee and the remainder of your deposit will be used toward your rescheduled reservation.
  • All cancellations made within 7 days of arrival are non-refundable and cannot be moved. No exceptions can be made.
  • If the lodge is closed or subject to government-enforced closure, guests will receive the hotel credit for their deposit for use toward another reservation booked within one (1) calendar year.
  • EXCEPTIONS: Downieville Classic Week, BANFF Mountain Film Festival, Brewfest, Clamper Doin's, New Years Week, Holidays, Special Events, and All Mountain Biking Festivals.
  • Additional policies apply to group reservations of three or more rooms. Group reservations are required to pay 100% of the reservation and are non-refundable unless refund request is made greater than 45 days from the reservation. If a 45 day notice is given, the Inn will attempt to rebook the rooms, and a refund will be given for any rooms which are rebooked.
  • If the guest arrives and decides to leave early, the nights not spent 24 are not refunded. In emergency situations, reserved dates not enjoyed will be reserved for a later date within 1-calendar year.
  • In case of a “no-show”, the total price of the reservation will be charged and is non-refundable.
  • There is only one way in which we can acknowledge cancellation of the guest’s reservation; the guest MUST send a cancellation request stating the reservation number via email to the following address: FrontDesk@DownievilleCarriageHouse.com
  • All cancellations are confirmed via email immediately after the reservation has been cancelled. 


COVID-19 Policies

On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of coronavirus, known as COVID-19, to be a global pandemic. Since then, circumstances have evolved rapidly with governments around the world taking swift action to slow the spread of COVID-19. We follow the CDC Guidelines and Sierra County Policies closely.


In response, we are providing the following changes to our routines for COVID-19 under our extenuating circumstances policy to help protect our community and provide peace of mind. Please monitor this page for updates about coverage.


Due to Covid-19, room refreshes will not be offered during stays. Should you need fresh towels or linen, please call the front desk or email FrontDesk@DownievilleCarriageHouse.com and we would be more than happy to help.
